Getting Your Offline Business Listed Online With Google Local

google-localGoogle Now More Important Than Yellow Pages For Local Businesses

For the first time ever, more customers found local businesses by searching on Google than by looking through the Yellow Pages in the second quarter of 2008. A study by TMP Directional Marketing has found that the first sources that Americans turn to for local business information is an internet search engine (31%). This is followed by print Yellow Pages or White Pages (30%), internet Yellow Pages (IYP) sites (19%) and local search sites (11%).
As a small business owner, I knew I needed visibility on the search engines for my online sales, but I had no idea what an impact top Google ranking could have on my walk in trade until I listed my classes on Google’s local search,” said Cindy Shebley, Everett based teacher and author.
Google’s Local Business Center places any business on Google Maps with such important information as location, driving directions, business hours, services and brands offered, types of payment accepted, customer reviews, and even photographs and videos. Once a business is highlighted on Google Maps, it also begins to climb in the “organic” Google seach results.
Since discovering the huge benefits of Google Local Business Center to her own business, Shebley has begun to help others get their businesses listed and ranked, using her own highly successful formulas for placement and search engine optimization.
